NEWRA Votes to Pursue Review of Future Changes at Tia’s Restaurant [Video]

After a recent informational presentation from the new owners of Tia’s Restaurant, the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) voted 28-6 to bring the waterfront restaurant within its designated voting territory. Currently, Tia’s is just outside NEWRA’s review boundary as it is beyond Christopher Columbus Park. However, members have indicated that since that side of the Marriott Long Wharf faces the North End, its residents are impacted more than those of the Wharf District Council.

The recent request to add a DJ to Tia’s entertainment license was relatively minor, however, more significant changes were implied for the near future. In advance of those applications, NEWRA’s executive committee intends to negotiate with the Wharf District Council in order to include the restaurant in NEWRA’s jurisdiction.

More information on the discussion can be viewed in the above video from the NEWRA meeting, held on July 10, 2014.
