Celebrating Fr. Claude Scrima’s 80th Birthday [Photo Gallery]

A Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Leonard Church was held on July 26th with a reception to honor Fr. Claude Scrima on his 80th birthday. “Let me take this occasion to congratulate him and to express my deep gratitude for the considerable amount of work that he still performs on behalf of our parish,” said Pastor Fr. Antonio.

Fr. Claude was ordained a Franciscan priest in 1961 and has been active in several ministries. After dedicating his early years to teaching in high schools staffed by Franciscans and the minor seminary in Andover, he moved to chaplaincy and parochial ministry. He also dedicated a few years of his life to the Secular Franciscan Order helping to establish a provincial office at Andover, Massachusetts. He has been an acclaimed retreat master and a preacher of missions in parishes within and outside the Archdiocese of Boston.
