The Good Neighbor Recognition Award recipients for April 2014 are the Friends of the North End Branch Library – Garden Committee for their volunteer work at attending to the library’s needs and beautification on a weekly basis. The award was presented by NEWRA Recognition Committee Chair Janet Gilardi on behalf of the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA).

Accepting the award for the FONEBL Garden Committee were Chair Phyllis Vitti, Edyie Pedi, Gail Hudak and Terese O’Connell. Not shown are Terry Pittaro and Jeanne Williams.

The monthly Good Neighbor Recognition Award is voted by NEWRA’s Executive Committee and given to local businesses, organizations and property owners that consistently keep the areas around their property clean of trash and debris.

  1. Congratulations and thank you! These ladies work so hard every week. They clean up unspeakable garbage and are so dedicated to keeping this area gorgeous!

  2. These volunteers are tireless and their dedication has paid off for the entire neighborhood. Visitors forget this is a public landmark and often leave trash in the garden, although the trash can is 10 feet away. Pets are also allowed to roam the gardens and leave reminders that they have been there. Despite these obstacles, these volunteers preserve and make it a lovely urban garden. Kudos to you!
