At last night’s NEWRA meeting, the Zoning, Licensing & Construction Committee provided an update from the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) on the outdoor seating and “woonerf plan” for the Cross Street sidewalk in front of the former Martignetti’s location.
Nick’s Famous Deli and DePasquale’s Pasta Shop have received a license from MassPike to share outdoor tables. The first couple of these tables are already situated on the site. Cafe Grafitti will also have outdoor tables when it opens, gated because it will be serving alcohol.
Next year, it is expected that there will be some outdoor public seating to be maintained by Gigi’s Gelateria on the corner of Cross and Hanover Streets. After neighborhood feedback, the number of these seats will be reduced to an unspecified amount with signage inviting the public, not just Cross Street business customers.
Parking on the inside of the plaza (nearest to the buildings) will no longer be permitted along the inner bollards.
Read the entire ZLC Report at NEWRA.org, under the ZLC tab. The BRA is expected to present these revised plans to the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) meeting on October 19th (see the Calendar).
Can anybody tell me why a pasta shop needs outdoor seating? Wait a minute, this has morphed into a deli/sandwich shop as well. Huh?
