May 1st marks the beginning of NEMPAC’s month long pledge-a-thon, “Keys 4 Kids”. The students of NEMPAC’s private music instruction program will be given the opportunity to participate in collecting pledges for their individual practice on their instrument. Proceeds, including pledges and sponsorship, will buy new instruments for our 2014-2015 school year, fund the children’s music scholarship program, as well as the private music instruction program.
“Keys 4 Kids is an opportunity for our music students to make change in our community. By participating, they are raising the awareness of arts in our neighborhood, and therefore furthering the influences of music in our daily lives. Each child that raises a pledge is helping another child reach music.” says Sherri Snow, NEMPAC’s Executive Director.
Music students participating in the Keys 4 Kids pledge-a-thon will be motivated to practice by showcasing what they have learned at our performance recital scheduled for Saturday, June 7th at 1p.m. on the Prado (The Paul Revere Mall). This recital is free and open to the public. Students will be honored with a pizza party and will receive special “Gold”, “Silver”, or “Bronze” music stars which will be hung in the NEMPAC music teaching studios.
If you are a business or individual who is interested in supporting this fundraiser, we are looking for sponsors. Those who sponsor will help the students and NEMPAC reach our goals and provide a positive look into the future of these programs. Our Scholarship program is another unique feature of NEMPAC. We feel that every child deserves the opportunity to find a passion in music. We feel music can positively influence a child’s outlook on life. We currently award more than $6,000 in music scholarships per year.
