The corner of Hanover and Mechanic Streets in Boston’s North End are seeing some comings and goings.
The fortune teller business has vacated the space at 215 Hanover Street above the Dolce Vita restaurant. Psychic Sophia Anderson had been operating at the location since late 2009 after a controversial neighborhood process and sign dispute. No word on what will occupy the empty second floor space.
Separately, on the other side of Mechanic Street, Frank DePasquale received approval from the Boston Licensing Board that will allow him to open a new seafood restaurant, called Acqua, in the space formerly occupied by Ida’s Italian Restaurant. Ida’s closed last Fall after operating since 1951. Acqua will feature the cuisine and environment of the Amalfi Coast including a garden patio in the outdoor space adjacent to the Sumner Tunnel. Both North End neighborhood groups (NEWRA & NEWNC) supported the alcohol license transfer with the new patio.
