Marty Walsh Is Boston’s Next Mayor; Sal LaMattina Re-Elected as District 1 City Councilor

The results are in: Marty Walsh was elected on Tuesday to be the next Boston Mayor in a 52%-48% victory over John Connolly.

On the City Council, incumbent Sal LaMattina handily topped the ticket in District 1 with 71% of the vote against challenger Brian Gannon. In District 2, Bill Linehan was also re-elected with 53% of the vote over Suzanne Lee.

For City Council At-Large, the four open seats went to Ayanna Pressley, Michelle Wu, Michael Flaherty & Stephen Murphy.

East Boston residents voted against a casino, 56%-44%.

In the North End, sharing in the Walsh victory is passionate supporter Stephen Passacantilli who left his job with Councilor LaMattina for the campaign. Passacantilli is also President of the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC).
