Italian Heritage Month Kick-Off at State House

The annual kick off of Italian Heritage Month was held on October 1, 2013 at the Grand Staircase of the State House. The 2013 Italian American Month Award recipients were Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Public Service Award, and Alessandro Golkar, Rising Young Professional Award. Once again the generosity of Donato Frattaroli and the Frattaroli Family provided this year’s scholarship to Anna W. Yang, of Lexington High School. Participating in the State House festivities was: Fr. Wayne Belschner, Boston Police Color Guard, Federation Italian-American Association, COMITES and the Coro-Dante chorus, conducted by Music Director Kevin Galie. A proclamation by Governor Deval Patrick was read and the ceremony was highlighted by Consul General of Italy Giuseppe Pastorelli.
