Despite the rainy weather, Old North’s annual Blessing of the Animals Ceremony brought plenty of pets and humans to the Prado on Sunday afternoon. The service commemorates the life of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. Rev. Steve Ayers, Vicar of the Old North Church, gave readings from scripture and prayers. New to Old North and her first Blessing of the Animals was Rev. Ellie Terry who joined in the service and individual blessings.
The team from RUFF, Responsible Urbanites for Fido, helped organize dog owners and provided an informational table as well as homemade treats for people and dogs.
