As a Labor Day weekend grand finale to Summer on the Waterfront, the Boston Harbor Association and City of Boston put on a special fireworks show over Boston Harbor on Saturday night. The show was the highlight of this weekend’s annual Boston “ähts” Festival going on at Christopher Columbus Park. The concept was initially crafted by TBHA through a successful Kickstarter campaign to bring back summer fireworks to Boston Harbor. There are unannounced fireworks over the harbor from time to time, mostly for weddings and private events, but this was the first scheduled and publicly announced summer fireworks show since the 1990s. The advance notice was well-received by the public with throngs of onlookers crowding Christopher Columbus Park and Castle Island, among other popular waterfront locations.
