  1. The flights at the DeFillipo Park The Gassy need a good cleaning. Picking up the dog poop and keeping the flights clean should be the first order of business. With all due respect to the City Workers who do a good of cleaning this park, dog owners use these flights for a dog toilet morning, noon and night. If the purpose of the mural is to bring art appreciation to the city there are other avenues that can be followed. I cannot see how covering a brick wall with a painted canvas will enhance and or make the Gassy a better environment for all who use the space. The park could do with cement planters that could hold real greenery, the park could do with the dirt area in the front of the playground which was once grass to be cemented or tarred over so a dog owner can easily pick up after their pet, and we could be better able to see and pick up and wash down the area for the owners who do no pick up. money could be well spent for additional benches. art appreciation can be brought to the North End in many different ways,. a bus trip could be planned to the MFA or the Gardner for adults as well as children Art in the park which is held at the waterfront can be brought to our playgrounds the money needed for this mural can be better spent on the above named suggestions there are many avenues that can be followed with hands on participation for young and old. Other than cleaning, please leave the walls alone.
