What’s Going On Monday, September 10, 2012:

This is a huge week for community meetings and a great time to get involved!

On Monday, the Neighborhood Council, NEWNC, meets on alcohol licensing, zoning and a proposal for a Tony DeMarco statue at the corner of Hanover and Cross Streets. See the agenda for the 7pm meeting at the Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet St.

On Tuesday, the city is looking for feedback on making Bartlett Place into something like a pocket park. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm at the Nazzaro Center. Also on Tuesday, the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park invite you to their monthly meeting at the Mariner’s House, also at 6:30 pm.

On Wednesday, the Friends of the North End Library welcome you help volunteer. Their meeting is at 6:30 pm at the Parmenter Street library. North End Against Drugs also has a meeting at 5:30 pm. Plus, there’s a School Choice meeting at the Copley Branch at 6pm.

On Thursday, it’s the Residents’ Association, NEWRA, monthly meeting, 7pm at the Nazzaro Center.

The Events Calendar has all the details. Please check with organizers for last minute changes.

What’s new and exciting on the blog:

Check out photographs of the procession in honor of Santa Rosalia Di Palermo held on Sunday afternoon, the last North End procession of the year.

What people are talking about:

Folks are still commenting, pro and con, on our post analyzing North End / Waterfront voting results from last week’s primary election. Also, still garnering attention is the New Residents commentary.

Under the radar, but worth viewing:

One of the side results from our deep dive into neighborhood charitable giving is that the majority of the 02113 zip code is now under 30 years old.

The Neighborhood Photo of the Day is so popular that I moved it to the top of these daily “News & Views” posts and put the weather at the bottom. Have some feedback on these types of posts or anything else? Your comments are welcome below.
