The 17th Annual “Taste of the North End” was held on May 6, 2011 at a new venue, Steriti Rink on Commercial St., where 37 restaurants attracted 700 guests and raised over $100,000 to benefit the North End Waterfront Health Center and other neighborhood charities. In all its years, the “Taste” has raised over $1 million.
In the video walkthrough below, we make our way around the Taste of the North End, stopping at nearly every table to talk with the participants. We also interview City Councilor Sal LaMattina, State Rep. Aaron Michlewitz, Community Service Award Recipient John Romano and some event attendees.
The event is co-chaired by Donato Frattaroli of Lucia Ristorante and Jim Luisi from the North End Waterfront Health Center. Mayor Thomas Menino attended the event with his wife, Angela, as did Congressman Mike Capuano and Larry Lucchino, CEO/President of the Boston Red Sox.
Honorees at this year’s event included Andrew Ference, Boston Bruins defenseman, Dick Flavin, author/playwright and John Romano, North End hero. Billy Costa, TV Diner/Kiss108, hosted the event. The James Montgomery Blues Band provided the musical entertainment. The video below highlights the ceremonies and awards.
You really outdid yourself Matt. I watched the whole thing, like being there. Nice to see the restaurants giving back.
