The new space for Modern Pasty Shop opened this week at 263 Hanover Street in Boston’s North End. Owners John Picariello and Sara McGee will operate both the new location and the adjacent original shop at 261 Hanover Street. The expansion is in the building formerly occupied by Piccola Venezia restaurant. The transfer of the malt, wine and cordials license received the support of both neighborhood groups, NEWNC and NEWRA last December. Here are some photos of new store.

What a job! This opened so quickly! It shows that if you have a dedicated team with terrific business acumen, you can actually do things in the North End that don’t take months and months to accomplish. I wish the construction project across the street did so well. Weren’t we promised in a neighborhood meeting that that hole in the ground was supposed to be finished last November?
I hope that sign is a registered landmark, and will be there forever.
I always suspected that the Phantom Gourmet played favorites in their reviews and after reading their list of the “8 greatest restaurants in the North End” all doubt has been removed!
