In a rare unanimous vote of 26-0 for zoning approval and 24-3 for a beer/wine/cordials license transfer, the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) strongly supported the applications that would expand the popular Modern Pastry Shop into the space formerly occupied by Piccola Venezia.
Modern Pastry owners John Picariello and Sara McGee will separately operate in both the new location (263 Hanover St.) and in the original Pastry Shop (261 Hanover St.). At the meeting, the need for two licenses was discussed and the future potential to combine the adjacent spaces that would require only one license.
The presentation and discussion of the applications can be viewed in the embedded video, recorded on December 12, 2013.
Where’s the chorus of naysayers telling us that a bakery doesn’t need a liquor license?
