Video: North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) meeting on March 10, 2014 at the Nazzaro Center.

Goody Glover’s, 48-50 Salem St., owner Dan McMyler presented his application for a change in the closing hour from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m on his all-alcohol, 7-day license. The patio closes at 9 p.m. so the closing change applies to the inside of the establishment.

Goody Glover’s has been operating at the location for 10 1/2 years. In answer to questions, the owner stated the new property owner is “marketing” the lease to other operators. McMyler owns the license and said he would take it elsewhere or sell it if his lease is not renewed with the new property owner.

He told the council that the 2:00 a.m. closing would allow him to compete with the later hours at Faneuil Hall bars and to offset an increase in real estate taxes. Residents in attendance spoke both in favor and against the later closing time.

A motion to deny the request failed, 4-5.

A subsequent motion to table the item passed 9-0.

NEWNC’s vote is advisory to te Boston Licensing Board that will hear this application at City Hall on March 19, 2014.
