This week’s Sports Illustrated is out and what a great cover! It features Boston Bruins 2011 champion players Nathan Horton, Rich Peverley and Zdeno Chara, on the left, with Dennis Seidenberg and Andrew Ferrence, on the right. Wait, who is that guy in the center holding the Stanley Cup? Look, it’s Dan Flaherty, manager of Union Wharf!
Dan was one of the many folks in the North End / Waterfront who enjoyed the friendly camaraderie of the players upon their arrival back in Boston as they graciously shared the victory in the neighborhood. Dan also captured these terrific photos and one of the first pictures of the Stanley Cup in Boston.
“It’s so unbelievable…I got to the hold the cup!” Dan says. “One of the most memorable moments of my life! WOW!” And that’s why the actual SI cover won’t be as special.
