Things to know for Monday 

Today is Monday, October 8th – Happy Columbus Day! Columbus Day is a national holiday to celebrate the anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas on October 12, 1492.

Here’s what else you need to know for the week ahead…

11:00AM Open Canal Street. Open Canal Street will transform the roadway near North Station and the TD Garden into a temporary pedestrian only walkway. Canal Street will be closed to traffic from 11 am to 5 pm

The Handel and Haydn Society continues its 2018-19 Season with a concert featuring Ludwig van Beethoven’s celebrated masterpiece, Piano Concerto No. 5, popularly known as the Emperor Concerto, as well as Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C Major, known as the GreatSymphony.
