7:00pm NEWNC Monthly Meeting – Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Dog Park to be a permanent North End fixture. With almost all funding for a permanent park coming from a grant through the Stanton Foundation, the temporary dog park at DeFilippo Gassy Park is likely to become permanent in the North End. Currently, 90 percent of the $220,000 project will be covered by the foundation, and construction is likely to begin this fall or next spring, read the full article at, bulletinnewspapers.com.
Hoverboards recalled due to risk of fire. You may remember the hoverboard that caught fire in May in a North End apartment, sparking a fire that caused about $100,000 in damage. Swagway was the company that manufactured that model hoverboard and after a mandate from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than half a million hoverboards have been recalled after numerous reports of these motorized scooters catching on fire, smoking or exploding.
