1. Courtesy of the events calendar, take a look at today’s events!

6:00pm Free Zumba Class at Christopher Columbus Park:  Boston Public Health Commission, the Boston Parks & Recreation Department and Blue Cross Blue Shield MA are partnering to provide the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series free fitness programming in Boston Parks this summer.

6:30pm Greenway’s Summer Fitness: MSL Pilates on Parcel 8: As part of the Greenway’s North End Summer Fitness Schedule: Ali Baldassare from Move SWEAT Love with Ali will lead you through her signature Pilates Fusion Bootcamp class with spin live beats to keep you energized, moving & motivated!

7:00pm NEWNC Monthly Meeting – Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet Street: In addition to the standard agenda items, Battery Wharf Hotel is seeking to obtain zoning relief in the transfer of entertainment license to list “live music.” There will also be a community chat on the upcoming summer feasts, view the full agenda.

Dog Park to be a permanent North End fixtureWith almost all funding for a permanent park coming from a grant through the Stanton Foundation, the temporary dog park at DeFilippo Gassy Park is likely to become permanent in the North End. Currently, 90 percent of the $220,000 project will be covered by the foundation, and construction is likely to begin this fall or next spring, read the full article at, bulletinnewspapers.com.

Hoverboards recalled due to risk of fireYou may remember the hoverboard that caught fire in May in a North End apartment, sparking a fire that caused about $100,000 in 
damage. Swagway was the company that manufactured that model hoverboard and after a mandate from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than half a million hoverboards have been recalled after numerous reports of these motorized scooters catching on fire, smoking or exploding.
