UBER, the startup car service company, has partnered with Boston Harbor Cruises, to launch a new water taxi venture on Boston’s inner harbor.
District 1 Sal LaMattina was on hand with Uber General Manager Meghan Joyce for the launch announcement. “I hope my constituents in District 1 will support this new service on the harbor to connect our Boston neighborhoods,” said Councilor LaMattina.
There will initially be eight vessels in the BHC fleet, accessible through the Uber smartphone app. Pricing is set at $13 per person including a 20% gratuity automatically added as well as a $1 booking fee. The initial test run will be available through June 15th to gauge demand for such a service. See the UberBOAT website for more information.
