Recognizing the work of outgoing City Councilor Sal LaMattina, Mayor Marty Walsh signed a proclamation to make October 1, 2017 “Sal LaMattina Day” in the City of Boston. The proclamation, shown below, identifies LaMattina’s work starting in 1983 at the Crossroads Family Shelter in East Boston helping homeless families find housing. He then worked in the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services starting in 1987 as liaison to both the North End and Eastie. After a stint during the 1990’s at the Transportation department, he was elected District 1 City Councilor in 2006. LaMattina lives in East Boston with his wife, Lisa, where they raised their daughter, Liana.
