The Sixty-Fourth Annual Award Ceremony of the Mary U. Nichols Book Prizes was held at the North End Branch Library on Friday, May 16, 2014.
The 2014 Award Winners were Jorge Villeda, from the Eliot School, Traci Walker Griffith, Principal, and Laura Pettine, Noah Foley, from St. John, Karen McLaughlin, Principal. The award goes to students who are outstanding in the subject of English.
Susan Voloshin, Branch Librarian at the North End Branch Library presented a welcoming speech, followed by a speech from Lia Toa Director, North End/ West End A.B. C. D.
Lia then presented the winning students with a illustrated, collector’s edition of the complete set of Sherlock Holmes stories and novels.
Congratulations to all, but especially to Jorge, one of the nicest kids I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet!
