Friends of the North End Branch Library Host “Springtime in Paris” Fundraiser

Friends of the North End Branch Library held a “Springtime in Paris” themed fundraiser Thursday night at the Fairmont Battery Wharf Hotel. On the first official day of the Spring season, the weather was representative of the occasion – marking one of the warmest days thus far in 2014.

President Donna Wells spoke about how the Friends of the North End Branch Library is a group made up of people from the neighborhood who believe that a good library is a vital part of any community. The work that the group focuses on includes sponsoring adults and children programs, as well as funding and assisting a gardening committee to keep the landscaping around the library looking nice.

Honorary friend awards were presented this year to longtime FONEBL leaders, Robin Ardito and Paula Luccio.

Throughout the year, the Friends hold an annual bake sale, a holiday open house, musical performances, along with films and speakers for both children and adults. Kids at the library took the time to help with a display of colored pictures. The group is doing a Buy a Poodle fundraiser for specific housekeeping needs at the library. Possible library needs from the Buy a Poodle funds include magazine subscriptions, children’s puppet shows, children’s room carpet, atrium replacement plantings and garden nutrient treatment, to name a few.

The event was complete with a spread of delicious appetizers, a mime walking around for some entertainment as well as a raffle with themed prize baskets.

Visit www.friendsnelibrary.org for more information on how to get involved! If you did not get a chance to attend, checks can still be sent to “Friends of the NE Branch Library” at P.O. Box 130197 Boston, MA 02113.
