Events This Week: Cycle Track, Greenway and NEWRA (ZLC) Meetings Plus MFA Painting at the Library

Events this week bring a little bit of everything, several public meetings are accompanied by some events at the North End and West End Libraries. Some fun events will feature warriors trivia, Eliot School free skate and 50/50 raffle, there also will be a showing of “Poseidon Adventure.” Take advantage of these events and more before the biggest event of the week for sports fans – Superbowl Sunday. Enjoy the week!

10:30am Creative Movement with Erica Sigal – West End Library (151 Cambridge St.)
Erica Sigal leads children ages 2 to 5 in creative movement exercises for learning and fun. Call: 617.523.3957 for more information.

4:00pm Painting on Canvas with MFA for Teens – North End Library (25 Parmenter St.)
Explore the classic art of painting on canvas with educators from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Learn about various painting styles, movements and themes, embrace your inner Leonardo, and create a masterpiece. For teens, ages 13-18. This Out-of-school time program is sponsored by the Boston Public Library Foundation.

The City of Boston will present an updated plan for the construction of a cycle track on Atlantic Avenue and Commercial Street in the North End neighborhood as part of the Connect Historic Boston Initiative. The goal is to create a multi-modal corridor that benefits all users with improved mobility and safety. View Post

9:00am St. John School Open House for New Families – Accepting Registrations for 2014/2015
St. John School is hosting an open house for new families where we will be accepting registrations for the 2014/2015 school year. St. John School is a private Catholic elementary school serving grades K3-8. We hope to see you at the open house at SJS in North Square!

5:30pm “Poseidon Adventure” – Films for the New Year at NE Library (25 Parmenter St.)
A group of passengers struggle to survive and escape, when their ocean liner completely capsizes at sea. Cast: Gene Hackman as Reverend Scot. “The Poseidon Adventure” – 1972. Running time, 114 minutes.

Proceeds from the snack stand at Steriti Rink will be donated to the Eliot K-8 Innovation School during this time. The Eliot will also run a 50-50 raffle!
