Several local young athletes showed off their strong abilities in not just one, but 3 sports at the recent New England Kids Triathlon. The athletes competed along with over 780 others, in swimming, cycling and running at the M.I.T. campus in Cambridge. The girls and boys have been practicing their swimming at the BCNC/QCC swimming pool for months along with recently added running and cycling to round out their triathlon training. Rian Finn and Sam Sullivan had very similar thoughts on the event: that their hard work and practice, inside the pool and in the neighborhood, really paid off. The event not only provides a safe and professional competition, but with other activities associated with the race the athletes meet new friends. These young athletes are great examples of strong competitors who also show true sportsmanship. As Liam Finn describes “It was fun to compete” and “one of the funniest things we did this summer.”
