Several dozen people attended a candlelight vigil held tonight at Christopher Columbus Park to raise awareness of the missing person case of Eugene Losik, 25, who disappeared early Saturday morning. Losik was last seen in the area of the Marriott Long Wharf and Christopher Columbus Park.
Police still consider this to be a missing persons case and are continuing the search. Over 40 officers have been part of a canvassing operation and divers also searched in Boston Harbor.
Losik lived for a brief time in the North End, but friends indicated that he was generally unfamiliar with Boston. Lusik works for Raytheon and lives in Andover with his girlfriend, Caitlin McGovern, who was at the vigil. The couple had come back to the hotel from a friend’s birthday party at Faneuil Hall. Losik went out again while McGovern stayed at the hotel to go to sleep.
Camera footage from the Marriott showed him leaving the Marriott Long Wharf at 2:24 am Saturday morning, outside the Christopher Columbus Park side of the Marriott. Losik had been drinking but friends said he was alert when last seen.
Family & friends gather around the candlelight vigil for Eugene Losik.
