The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory starting Wednesday June 20, 2012.
The North End’s Mirabella Pool is not scheduled to open until June 23rd (maybe earlier?), but the sprinkler spray pool in front of it on Commercial Street is already turned on. There are also sprinklers and fountains at Christopher Columbus Park and on the Greenway parks.
The Nazzaro Community Center, 30 N. Bennet St. is a designated “Cooling Center.” Call (617) 635-5166 for more information.

- Underestimate the seriousness of heat-related emergencies!

Elderly
Call the Elderly Commission at 617-635-4366 or the Mayor’s Hotline at 617-635-4500 (after hours) to report issues.
Seniors can use the ‘Senior Shuttle’ service for transportation to cooling centers during declared heat emergencies. Additional information is available by calling the Elderly Commission at 617-635-4366.
Homeless
Extremely hot weather poses additional hardships for homeless people who may be elderly, disabled, suffer from medical conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, or who take medications that cause sensitivity to the hot sun. We encourage you to look out for homeless people who may be in distress.

If any areas are without power, residents should call NSTAR at 1-800-592-2000 or call the Mayor’s 24 Hour Constituent Service at 617-635-4500 with concerns or questions and report outages.
