Boston Harbor Now Hosts “Our Harbor Our Home, A Celebration of Our Waterfront and Islands”

Boston Harbor Now will host Our Harbor Our Home, A Celebration of Our Waterfront and Islands on Thursday, August 27, 2020.

This virtual event supports the organization’s efforts to enhance public access to the Harbor while simultaneously working to protect the region from the ever-increasing risks and impacts of climate change. In 2019, Boston Harbor Now brought approximately 40,000 children and families primarily from underserved communities to the harbor, waterfront, and islands for free.

The one-hour virtual event is a safe, fun alternative to Boston Harbor Now’s annual Spectacle on Spectacle and Onboard Awards fundraising events. Our Harbor Our Home will include inspiring remarks and music, and sponsors and ticketed guests will receive a delivered, prepared gourmet dinner and gift bag.

At the event, Boston Harbor Now will recognize the Nolan Family, as long-time owners and operators of Boston Harbor Cruises, for their overall contributions to Boston’s waterfront, including their ongoing commitment to diversifying transportation options throughout the Harbor, providing access to the Harbor Islands, and their lasting philanthropic impact to Boston’s nonprofit community.

“Boston Harbor Now is honored to recognize the Nolan Family. Their over 90-year commitment to our city’s waterfront has helped to reshape Boston’s transportation ecosystem and has allowed for greater public access to the amazing resource that is our region’s Harbor and Islands,” said Kathy Abbott, President and CEO of Boston Harbor Now.

“The Nolan Family is pleased to be recognized by Boston Harbor Now, an organization with which we share our passion for, and dedication to, Boston Harbor and the Boston Harbor Islands.  Since BHC began, it has been an honor for four generations of our family to bring this extraordinary harbor and its history to life for area residents and visitors from across the globe.  We are looking forward to an exciting virtual event experience later this summer at Our Harbor, Our Home,” said Alison Nolan, General Manager, Boston Harbor Cruises.

The event will feature a performance from Veronica Robles and her all-female Mariachi band and will be streamed publicly on both YouTube and Facebook, providing access to thousands of new and past supporters of Boston Harbor Now and its mission.

Our Harbor, Our Home is co-chaired by Richard Walker, Former Senior Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and Boston Harbor Now Board of Trustees, and Jessica Hughes, Managing Director, Tishman Speyer. Sponsorships and ticket purchases for Our Harbor, Our Home include a VIP virtual networking event prior to the beginning of the program, a gourmet meal, gift bag, along with a high level of visibility throughout the event.
