On Saturday, February 22, Boston area residents and visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore Peddocks Island during the winter season.
Boston Harbor Now, in conjunction with the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park and Boston Harbor Cruises, will host the Winter Wander, an unforgettable winter day of exploring, fun, and discovery.
Bring your cameras, binoculars, lunch and snowshoes (weather permitting) to make the most of your winter adventure. Dress in warm layers since the day will be spent outside enjoying the New England winter.
When: Saturday, February 22; boarding begins at 11:30am, with ferry returning at 3:00pm.
Where: Boarding will be at Long Wharf. Attendees will visit serene and historic Peddocks Island. One of the largest Boston Harbor Islands, Peddocks Island is home to Fort Andrews, which was built in the early 1900s, and a World War II era Chapel. The island is also rich in biodiversity and home to wildlife such as deer and turkeys, making it a fun location to explore.
