A new plan for 49 Charter Street received unanimous support from the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) at their December 2019 meeting. The revision maintains the property as three stories, without the previously proposed one-story addition that would have made a fourth floor.
NEWNC has previously opposed the addition of a fourth story on the property as abutters cited concerns about loss of sunlight, air flow, and privacy. At the latest meeting, an abutting owner spoke in favor of the revised plans. Neighborhood group votes are advisory to Boston city officials, including the Zoning Board of Appeal, that will make the final determination.
