Eliot School Debate Team Wins First Place at Citywide Championship

The Eliot School’s Junior Varsity debate team placed first overall at the Boston Debate League (BDL) Citywide Championship.

In the Junior Varsity individual awards, sixth graders Charlotte placed 9th, Jadon placed 5th and Sophia placed 4th. In the Junior Varsity team awards, Sophia and Charlotte placed 6th. In the Varsity team division, Ira and Rebecca placed 6th overall.

The team has been excelling this academic year, winning multiple awards in an earlier BDL competition in November. The BDL debate session runs from October to March, with over 720 Boston Public School students participating at either middle or high school level.

Congratulations to all the Eliot debaters! Eliot Principal Traci Griffith also gave a special thank you to the debate coaches, Kiara Boone and Tara Correa.
