The ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NE/WE NSC) held its St. Patrick’s Day party on Friday, March 15, well in advance of the local parade and other festivities around the neighborhood!

Nearly four dozen members of the community, almost all of them seniors from the neighborhoods, including two groups of West Enders from the Amy Lowell and Blackstone Apartments, came to the center at 1 Michelangelo Street in the North End to feast on festive shepherd’s pie, potatoes, cabbage, corn, rolls, cookies, candies, and coffee.
This feast was sponsored and served with love and care by the center’s friends at Eagle Bank. In attendance were Senior Vice President of Marketing, Jamie Addonizio; Senior Vice President of Residential Lending, Ingrid Mahoney; and Gisella di Paola, Vice President, Business Development Officer, who additionally serves on the NE/WE NSC Advisory Board.
Victor Brogna, well known for his musical performances in the area, played traditional Irish music and other tunes on the trumpet. Victor is an Advisory Board member of the NE/WE NSC as well as a current member of the North End Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) as the Chair of the Zoning, License, and Construction Committee, lending his passions and talents to many civic affairs! Volunteer and former NE/WE NSC Advisory Board member David Roderick also assisted with much-needed serving and clean up.

Special guests included Senator Sal N. Di Domenico and Gabriela Coletta, who came bearing donuts from City Councilor Lydia Edwards’ office, as she regretfully had a scheduling conflict. It brings such joy for the seniors to have their elected officials visit their constituents in the space that so many consider a second home!
All in all, it was a delightful day spent in the drop-in center, with good food, conversation, and friends, for those who trace their roots back to Ireland’s shores, along with the honorary Irish for a day!
Would you like to join the fun? Please call the NE/WE NSC directly at 617-523-8125 to reserve your spot for future luncheons, which the NE/WE NSC will advertise in advance. New clients must sign up to obtain free membership with ABCD.
