This week’s winter thaw is bringing out crowds to view the St. Valentine’s Day decorations illuminating Columbus Park, kicking off a “Month of Love” on the North End waterfront.

A team from Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) led by its arts curator, Robyn Reed, have worked to bring the seasonal joy to the park during the heart of the winter in February.

This is the second annual Tunnel of Love transforming the iconic trellis on the waterfront into Boston’s Valentine’s Day destination.

Each end of the trellis features a heart-shaped entrance, with five-foot-tall, handmade “conversation hearts” lining the walkway. A new “love song” audio system was installed this year bringing a complete sensory experience to the exhibition.

The trellis will be decorated for the entire month of February with the cupids and lighted hearts.
