Monday’s Brief: Jay Leno at Reginas, Movies at the Marketplace, Little Groove, NEWNC Meeting

Today is Monday, February 11 and February school vacation week is right around the corner. If you’re looking for something fun to do with the kids during the break, be sure to check out Movies at the Marketplace – a free movie series at Faneuil Hall.

Here’s what else you need to know for the week ahead…

10:30AM Little Groove at the North End Library. Stop by the North End Library at 25 Parmenter Street and get ready to shake, wiggle, and move with Little Groove! Children will have the opportunity to interact with parachutes, puppets, instruments, and more as they learn and play in a fun musical environment.

7:00PM NEWNC Monthly Meeting at the Nazzaro Center. Stop by the Nazzaro Center at 30 North Bennet Street for the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council monthly meeting. See additional details including this month’s agenda here.

Jay Leno stopped by Regina Pizzeria in the North End

Last Thursday afternoon Regina Pizzeria received a special visitor from former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno. Leno, an Andover native, grabbed a few slices of pizza before posing for a few photos with restaurant staff members, see more on the Boston Globe.

6:00PM Nazzaro Center Petition at Landmarks Commission. The Boston Landmarks Commission will take up a petition to protect the North End’s Nazzaro Center building. The meeting will be held at Boston City Hall, 1 City Hall Plaza, Boston. The public hearing will be in room 900, on the 9th floor.

6:30PM FOCCP Monthly Meeting at Mariner’s House. Stop by 11 North Square for the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park monthly meeting, see additional details here.

7:00PM NEMPAC ‘Amore’ Valentine’s Dinner & Concert. This annual winter favorite at Ristorante Lucia combines a delicious three-course Italian dinner paired with a live music program featuring our favorite songs and music about ‘Amore’. Old North Speaker Series: Quilts for the Cause

“Quilts for the Cause” include those used to promote social issues such as anti-slavery or prohibition, and for charitable or patriotic purposes, which include quilts made in time of war. Pamela Weeks, Curator of the New England Quilt Museum, will discuss quilts made for some of these issues with a concentration on the communities of women who helped the Northern cause in the American Civil War, continue reading.
