Things to know for Friday

Today is Friday, December 7 and here’s what you need to know for this weekend…

Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Attack. The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese was a surprise military strike against the United States naval base on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack led to the United States’ entry into World War II. Over the next seven hours there were coordinated Japanese attacks on the U.S.-held Philippines, Guam and Wake Island and on the British Empire in Malaya, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

6:00PM Tintoretto and Vince. Exploring the Late Italian Renaissance. The 500th anniversary of the birth of Jacopo Tintoretto (1518-1594), one of the most formidable painters of Renaissance Italy, is the occasion of great celebrations in Europe and America. Join I AM Books at 189 North Street for a conversation with Matteo Casini (Suffolk University) and Lorenzo Buonanno (University of Massachusetts, Boston).

  1. Correction: The photo of the blue-lit trellis is NOT Christopher Columbus PLAZA. That is an apartment building on Commercial Street. This gorgeous photo was taken in/of Christopher Columbus Park.
