Chefs from the Quincy Market Food Colonnade made a World Series bet with chefs from L.A.’s Grand Central Market and now, it’s time for Bostonians to collect their tacos!
Because the Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers four games to one to become World Series Champions, Chef Tomas Martinez, owner of Tacos Tumbras à Tomas in L.A.’s Grand Central Market, will be flying to Boston to give out free carne asada tacos!
Sox fans can collect their victory taco at MIJA Cantina & Tequila Bar in Faneuil Hall Marketplace on Friday, November 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, while supplies last. Fans must wear their Red Sox gear in order to receive a free taco.
Prior to the World Series, chef from the two cities placed a wager to back their home teams with L.A. promising tacos to Boston if the Red Sox won, and Boston promising clam chowder and baked beans to L.A. if the Dodgers won. Fortunately for Boston, the Sox came out on top.
Both markets also agreed to $1,000 charitable contributions for every home run their home team hits. The Red Sox hit eight home runs in the Word Series, and so Faneuil Hall Marketplace will be donating $8,000 to Pitching in For Kids. A check presentation will occur at 12 p.m. on November 9.
The L.A. Dodgers hit six home runs, and for that the Grand Central Market is donating $6,000 to Team Rubicon.
Congrats to both teams on an exciting season and World Series. As always, Go Sox!
