October is Italian Heritage Month! The annual kickoff will be Monday, October 1 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the House Chamber, 3rd Floor of the State House. The event is free and open to the public. The Honorable Robert DeLeo, Speaker of the House of Representatives will serve as master of ceremonies for the impressive program which is co sponsored by the Consul General of Italy, Federica Sereni and the Italian Heritage Committee of Massachusetts. The program will provide scholarships for worthy students thanks to CASIT, Club Italia in collaboration with the Italian Consulate, and the St. Joseph’s Society. A high point in the program honors three Italian and Italian Americans with distinguished service awards. This year’s honorees include: Fr. Antonio Nardoianni, O.F.M., pastor of St. Leonard of Port Maurice’s Church in the North End for Distinguished Community Service; Giulio “Mogol” Repetti for Distinguished Service in Music and Language; and Rep. Paul Donato, for Distinguished Public Service.
