Today is Wednesday, August 9 and if you’ve stopped by Cutillo playground recently, you may have noticed a new mural painting from the Mayor’s Mural Crew, a group of roughly 14 Boston High School students who are being paid to paint murals around the city this summer, read more on NECN

Here’s why there’s a big blue line painted on the Boston Harbor Garage

If you’ve walked by the Boston Harbor Garage over the past couple of days, you may have noticed the blue stripe and sign on the side of the garage saying “open to sea”. This is Don Chiofaro’s attempt to help the public “visualize the magnitude of the new waterfront open space,” should he be allowed to replace the garage with the much debated tower, read more on the Boston Globe.

7:00PM Movies at the Marketplace. Faneuil Hall Marketplace presents “Movies at the Marketplace” where the West End of the Marketplace will be transformed into an outdoor movie theatre where visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy free movies with pre-show activities starting at 7:00pm and movies beginning at dusk. This week’s movie will be Dreamgirls.

Madonna Della Cava Feast on Hanover Street. The feast of Madonna Della Cava beings at 7PM Friday and run though Sunday’s 1PM procession, see additional details here.

Sales Tax Holiday. For the weekend of Aug. 11-12, consumers can purchase goods of $2,500 and under without paying the state’s 6.25 percent sales tax.

10:00AM BCYF’s Summer “Girls Nights” at the Aquarium. Join the Boston Centers for Youth & Families at the New England Aquarium for a series of free girls-only events throughout the summer. All activities are designed to bring girls together in a safe, non-competitive environment where they can be themselves, meet other girls their age and engage with role models, see here for additional details.

10:30AM Dayna M. Kurtz – Mother Matters. Join I AM Books at 189 North Street as Dayna Kurtz guides new and veteran mothers alike through the best practices to care for themselves during motherhood. Dayna will be available for a meet-and-greet and book signing.
