Low-Cost Internet Program “Starry Connect” to Launch at Ausonia Apartments in the North End

Starry, Inc. is partnering with the Boston Housing Authority to launch “Starry Connect”, a pilot program aimed to provide free and low-cost internet access to housing authority residents. The program is being piloted at Ausonia Apartments in the North End.

The program provides free, common area WiFi to building residents in the community rooms and hallways. Starry is also donating five computers for a designated computer lab for Ausonia residents.

The goal of Starry Connect is to provide free and low-cost internet access solutions for public and affordable housing communities to help close the digital divide. They will offer simple, easy-to-understand and use plans for residents in public or subsidized affordable housing.

Ausonia Apartments is a 100-unit, seven-story, housing complex specifically designed to serve seniors and disabled individuals.

Boston’s Interim Chief Information Officer Patricia Boyle-McKenna said in a statement, “The innovative partnership between the Boston Housing Authority and Starry Internet is an important step in advancing Mayor Walsh’s digital equity agenda and expands access to high quality broadband service citywide.”
