Families Celebrate Independence Day at Columbus Park

It was a hot, hot Independence Day celebration hosted by Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) continuing its tradition of a family-friendly, free day of events at the park.

The day started with the fun “Kids Parade” led by Uncle Sam on stilts. After a short program with FOCCP President, Joanne Hayes-Rines and City Councilor Lydia Edwards, the fun continued with appearances by Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Benjamin the Juggler, Peter the Magician and Jim the Bubble Guy. There was also face painting, crafts, lawn games and the New England Aquarium‘s Touch & Feel tide pool. Later in the day, Harborfest music came on the stage. A special cap-off to the celebration were fireworks!
