North End resident Matthew Pearlson recently won an award for his work on The Foam Printing Project, which focuses on using lightweight foam for 3D printing. The goal behind this work is to create lighter-weight structures so the world can use less fuel.
Pearlson gives the long-term example of a lightweight, electric garbage truck to talk about the project’s potential. This would be better for the environment, for the maintenance of the trucks, and also decrease the noise pollution created by these large vehicles.
