11:00AM West End Tree Hearing at 1010 Mass Ave. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department will hold a public hearing on a request to remove one public shade tree for sidewalk reconstruction at 50 Staniford Street in the West End. For more information contact the Tree Warden at (617) 635-7275.

6:00PM CANCELLED – NE Public Safety Meeting at the Nazzaro Center. Join the Boston Police Area A-1 for a North End public safety meeting at 30 North Bennet Street.

Coast Guard cutters plow through ice off the coast of Massachusetts

The Coast Guard has been out off the coast of Massachusetts using cutter ships to break up sheets of ice, joining the already on-going efforts started in Boston Harbor and off the cape by smaller vessels. The Shackle will ride out the storm and dock at the Coast Guard station in the North End before heading back out to survey damage, WHDH has the full story.

Saturday, January 6:

9:30AM Lego Club at the North End Library. Join the North End Library at 25 Parmenter Street for some after school fun building legos.

10:30AM I Piccoli Lettori. Join I Am Books at 189 North Street for its Italian reading group for children ages 0-4 and their parents. Come ready to engage and participate in a fun morning of Italian language learning.

12:00PM STEAM Saturday at the North End Library. Join the North End Library at 25 Parmenter Street for their STEAM activities for children ages 6 and younger. This week’s activity will include building an indoor snowman.
