Maurizio’s Ristorante Italiano Closing Its Doors on Christmas Eve

After 25 years in business, Maurizio’s Ristorante Italiano at 364 Hanover Street is closing. Owner Linda Loddo shared a heartfelt message to friends on Wednesday:

“Maurizio’s will be closing for business on Christmas Eve. Writing these words makes my stomach sink. Emotions are running high at the moment but I can’t help but come back to thoughts of gratitude…gratitude for being able to live our dream of opening and operating our own restaurant, gratitude for the beautiful people we have met and friendships I plan to carry with me for my lifetime.

The late Chef Mauriźio Loddo hailed from the Italian island of Sardinia and brought his cuisine to Boston’s North End working at Giacomo’s and Il Panino before opening Maurizio’s Ristorante Italiano in June 1993. Linda, his ex-wife and business partner, continues her note:

I want to thank my staff – Paulino, Daniel, Edwin, Enriqué, Marcus, Lauren, Luan and Nancy for being such a great team and for always having my back. Words could never express my heartfelt gratitude for them and for all our staff who have come and gone over these many years. I hope you will remember Maurizio’s as one of your favorite restaurants. I surely will remember you all as the extended Maurizio’s family that supported us throughout our nearly 25 years in business. As I have said so many times before, we could not have made it without YOU.”

The liquor license is set to be transferred to Oath Craft Pizza in the Fenway, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. It is unclear what future tenant might occupy the space. In the meantime, the last meal at Maurizio’s will be served, and glass of Prosecco raised, on Christmas Eve, December 24th.

  1. I trust there will be more BLESSINGS in store for you, Linda!…Thank you for the wonderful association that the late Capt. Phil and I had in the past with both you and Maurizio. Wonderful memories!! I will always remember the Christmas Party staff cruise you had aboard INTEGRITY in 1998 (wow!), and Maurizio cooking aboard for a special birthday charter, as well as other times together. May you have a very special Christmas Eve and the 12 Days of Christmas that follow! Godspeed!…Fondly, Ann – Boston Yacht Charters

  2. Sorry for inaugurating your stairs with a head but. I remember it fondly, the look on your waitress’ face, priceless.
