Major benefactor, Nick Ferreri, has issued a challenge for the businesses and citizens of Boston to step up for the restoration of Saint Leonard Church, located in the heart of the North End. Ferreri will match all donations up to $1 million dollars.
“I have decided to challenge the businesses, financial district, and citizens of Boston to donate to the refurbishment of St Leonard’s. The total cost of the project is $3.2 million. I am aware of the recent 1 million dollar donation and I will match all other donations up to 1 million dollars.
Saint Leonard Church is more than a place of worship for Catholics. People from all over the world enter the church when they visit the North End. It is the center of the Boston’s North End. In a world of intolerance the North End and St Leonards brings all cultures and religions together with a peaceful and festive environment.
Many of the executives in the Financial District bring clients to the great restaurants and pastry shops in the North End and I ask them to participate in this drive and and allow me to fulfill my pledge.” — Nick Ferreri
