Don’t Miss Old North’s Last Lecture of the Year!

Join Old North Church & Historic Site for the last installment of this year’s Old North Foundation Speaker Series!

Wednesday, November 29th at 6 pm, the Old North Foundation Speaker Series will be hosting Professor Robert Forrant as he explores the 1912 Bread & Roses Strike.

“Still They Persisted” will delve into the history of the Bread & Roses Strike, which was organized largely by immigrant women workers against powerful mill owners. These immigrant workers held meetings that were translated into almost 30 different languages, and created nurseries and soup kitchens to care for the needs of those on strike.

Afterwards, a reception and community conversation will be held with Professor Forrant about how this 100-year old strike is still relevant to American laborers in the 21st century. Although the lecture itself is open to the public, participation in the reception and conversation will require pre-registration.
