Owners of 431-439 Hanover Street are seeking to increase the first floor commercial space into the basement. The address is currently occupied by Metropolitan Real Estate and Philip’s Salon.

The zoning violation needing relief is the floor to area ratio (FAR). The current FAR is 4.54 and the proposed is 4.97.

The proposal is to add 940 square feet of additional commercial space for Metropolitan Real Estate.

Attorney Daniel Toscano presented at the October 9, 2017 meeting of the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC).

NEWNC voted 5-0 in favor of the variance request. Due to a lack of a council quorum, NEWNC is planning a follow up meeting to validate its vote.
