Flight of the Angel Highlights Grand Finale of 107th Fisherman’s Feast

The Flight of the Angel was the grand finale of the 107th Fisherman’s Feast in honor of Madonna del Soccorso di Sciacca, held Sunday night in Boston’s North End. The 2017 Flying Angel was Ava Travato Bonavita with Side Angels Sophia Fialkosky and Victoria Carregal.

After an 8-hour procession during the day, Fisherman’s Club members brought the Madonna statue home to North Street where two side angels on balconies recite an Italian devotion followed by the entrance of the flying angel from a third story window coming down from the sky to meet the Madonna Del Soccorso Di Sciacca. At the end, confetti rains on the scene in an astounding street celebration.

  1. A beautiful tradition being upheld all these years. So sorry we could not make it this year however we were given the honor of Ava practicing her prayer to the Virgin on us in the Victoria Cafe about three weeks ago. Grandmother Maria, you must be proud of Ava.
