Parish Café and Bar is celebrating 25 years of Owner, Gordon Wilcox and Chef/Owner, Sean Simmons’ beloved concept, bringing Boston’s best sandwiches together from the creative talents of the city’s most renowned chefs.
In 1992, Wilcox began curating recipes from the area’s top chefs to offer a menu of Boston’s best sandwiches from its various establishments all under one roof. Now with locations on Boylston Street and Mass Ave, Parish is honoring its 25th anniversary by bringing back sandwiches from its original menu in 1992, including Lydia Shire’s “The Lydia” and Chris Schlesinger’s “The Schlesinger.”
Throughout the year, Parish will also re-release famed archived sandwiches every two weeks from Boston’s most celebrated chefs who have graced its menu over the past quarter century, including Debra Hughes’ “Pudding Portobello” and Ken Oringer’s “The Benny.”
In addition, Parish is celebrating the four newest sandwiches on the menu; “The Hot and Dirty Pig Burger” from Tiffani Faison, Chef/Owner – Sweetcheeks and Tiger Mama, Boston; “The Alden” from Michael Scelfo, Chef/Owner – Alden and Harlow, Cambridge; “The Bondir Brisket” from Jason Bond, Chef/Owner – Bondir, Cambridge; and “The Bravas” from Cassie Piuma, Chef – Sarma, Somerville.
“It’s been amazing to work with so many extraordinarily talented chefs from every corner of the city and its surrounding areas these past 25 years,” said Wilcox. “It’s going to be a lot of fun going through the archives, essentially taking guests in a time machine through different periods of the Boston culinary scene since the early 90’s.”
Coinciding with its 25th anniversary specialty sandwiches, Parish will continue to serve its full menu of delicious appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts, as well as its full bar menu at both locations.
