The North End was all abuzz yesterday with the arrival of some of the members of the AS Roma Soccer Team who were touring the North End and then sat at Trattoria il Panino with ESPN for an interview where fans cheered them on from both inside and out.
Above, Trattoria il Panino owners Frank and Joey DePasquale are pictured with Italian soccer player Paolo Maldini at the restaurant before the interview. Paulo and several players signed shirts and balls and autographs for the fans and posed for pictures with dozens of people on the street and in the restaurant.
After the interview was completed, the teammates were treated to an Italian feast by Trattoria il Panino Chef Willy Lopez that included five courses of pastas, meats, and antipasti along with a selection of homemade desserts. The AS Roma team will be playing Juventus at Gillette Stadium next Sunday at 4p.
