Book Signing for Red Sox Legend Rico Petrocelli

Faneuil Hall Marketplace will host former Red Sox player Rico Petrocelli on Friday, July 14 at Quincy Market from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for a signing of his book, Tales From the 1967 Red Sox Dugout, written with Chaz Scoggins. A sure-handed shortstop with power, Rico Petrocelli spent his entire 14-year career with the Red Sox before retiring in 1977. Two-time all-star baseball player, Petrocelli played in two World Series and set an American League Record for shortstops by hitting 40 home runs in 1969— a record that stood for nearly three decades. He was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 1997. Petrocelli’s book recaptures the improbable season he played on the “Impossible Dream” team through his unique anecdotes. In this re-release, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of that magical year, Petrocelli chronicles both the nightmare that threatened to swallow an organization and the resurrection that would reinvigorate a team and a city that share the same heart.
